Better Sex: Try Yoga

Limbering up with yoga will help you build a strong, supple body – and that leads to a lot more action in the bedroom, says Ellen Barrett, author of Sexy Yoga. Three more reasons to hit the mat before you hit the sack:

  1. Increase your overall blood flow. Some positions, such as the eagle pose, direct it straight toward your pelvis. All that blood rushing to your privates literally makes you hot, and can heighten your sensitivity and increase desire.
  2. Tone and strengthen your entire core, including your pelvic floor. “The more you work these muscles, the greater range of motion you have,” says Becky Jeffers, former fitness director at the, Berman Center for female sexual health in Chicago. This means stronger contractions and releases, and possibly, more intense orgasm. Yoga also eases pain in the bedroom by releasing hip and thigh tension, which can make sex tough for some women, especially runners.
  3. Stimulate your chakras. Yoga moves like the triangle and seated open-angle poses stimulate your chakras (yoga-speak for your body’s energy centers surrounding your spine). Yoga enriches these critical areas with blood and prana, the life force, says Barrette. That promotes openness and decreases sexual inhibition, making you a more game sex partner and, in turn, a much happier person.
